"I AM two of the most powerful words. For what you put after them shapes your reality."
I saw this over a year ago and it washed over me in waves. Something so simple, two words that we probably say daily, not realizing how powerful and shaping they are in our lives.
This is the beginning of my self portrait project exploring this thought.
This project is about exploring who I am; both on my surface and at my core.
So many words came rushing to mind when I first thought of this project. But as I have been reflecting on the last year I realized resoundingly how grateful and thankful I am. A year ago at this time I had no idea where we would be. So many questions that had no answers. So many fears. Yet here we are together; happy, healthy, and designing a life that we love.
I have began to carve time out each day to write down three things I am thankful for. Sometimes they are big and sometimes they are seemingly small. I believe it almost doesn't even matter what those things are. If I want to write that I am thankful for our home or for a fountain soda; it's all the same. It is about shifting our focus in life. It is about seeing the good and shaping our day and our life in that context.
